Timing Problems
Tip: The replacement of the timing belts including alternator and fan are vital as they are the main component of your engine and failure to replace them at the necessary intervals may lead to a breakdown or in some scenarios a major engine failure.
If an engine comes with a timing belt, the timing belt should be replaced at regular intervals mentioned by the vehicle manufacturer no matter whether any issue is apparent, generally in the range of 60,000 to 90,000 miles. The manual of the vehicle owner should mention the particular service interval.
Often, timing belts can skip or break, while the engine is running.
The reinforced and moulded teeth on the timing belt involve gears on the camshafts and crankshafts. After running thousands of miles, the teeth may get worn out, or the belt may stretch, thereby causing the belt to shift position on the camshaft or crankshaft gears. In case of the belt jumps, the engine will run poorly and may also stop working completely.
